The ScrumWorks Pro Server is supported on popular Linux distributions
including Redhat, SUSE, Debian, and Ubuntu.
The following requirements are necessary for ScrumWorks Pro Server installation and operation on
the Linux platform:
- An Internet connection to download third-party files required by ScrumWorks Pro.
If you do not have an Internet connection, please see below.
- The utility Wget to retrieve files using HTTP, HTTPS and FTP
- Java 2 Development Kit (JDK) version 5.0. To download JDK, please see the Sun web site:

Before installing ScrumWorks, please review the
ScrumWorks Server Hardware Recommendations to assist with selecting an appropriate server to host ScrumWorks Pro.
Server Installation on Linux
- Obtain the ScrumWorks Pro Linux distribution.
- Extract the file into the directory in which you want to install ScrumWorks Pro.
- Change to the directory that was created during extraction.
- Run
./setup.sh to configure your server and get instructions for starting it.
Obtain the Installation File
New customers can request
request a trial license if necessary.
Existing customers can obtain the latest stable version of ScrumWorks Pro Windows distribution from the
ScrumWorks Pro Upgrade
web site. Note, the upgrade distribution is identical to the distribution used for fresh installations.
- Load the ScrumWorks Pro Upgrade web site in a web browser:
http://danube.com/scrumworks/pro/upgrade
- Enter your Case ID number and the maximum users in your license.
These two values can be found by loading the ScrumWorks Pro Desktop Client and
navigating to the "Help" menu. Select "About" from the "Help" menu and note the
values for the "Case ID" and "Licensed Users"
- Select the latest Linux platform distribution and download.
The distribution file is an archive named: scrumworks-pro-version-mac_linux.tar.bz2
- Extract the ZIP file into a temporary directory.
Installing ScrumWorks without an Internet Connection
If you do not have an Internet connection available, please download the following files
and place them in the scrumworks-3.2 installation directory:

- Stop the ScrumWorks Pro Server
- If it's running in the foreground, Ctrl-C stops it.
- If it is running as a daemon:
# /etc/init.d/scrumworks_init.sh stop
- Copy the database if you wish to keep the data
- Remove the links from the runlevels in which they are installed
- Remove the ScrumWorks Pro Server directory
Using MySQL Database with ScrumWorks Pro
If you wish to transfer from a Hypersonic to a MySQL database, please read the
Hypersonic-to-MySQL transfer documentation.
Caution: once transferred to MySQL, ScrumWorks Pro data cannot be transferred back to Hypersonic.
